The IT Department provides the technological tools and systems our City requires to deliver and improve citizen services in an interactive, global world. The Department provides guidance and coordination to the City’s technology planning, training and development efforts.
The IT Department supports City-wide computing, telecommunication, technology training, and technology long-range planning needs. IT manages local and wide-area computer networks in 25 locations serving 760 computer workstations. IT works to ensure that employees have access to these critical systems 99% of the time in most areas.
IT staff support more than 1,200 users of electronic mail, telephone services, and the Internet. We support the training needs to ensure that City staff members have the skills to use effectively the technology tools provided.
The Department supports one primary and two secondary midrange computers. Applications supported include financial accounting, payroll, personnel, fleet management, utility billing, police applications, fire records, building inspection, and utility applications.
